Happy Thursday, everyone. I (Ben) am writing the Farm Letter today. Usually in this space we'll talk about what is going on at the farm or a fun recipe we've been trying in our kitchen that we believe you would enjoy.

This week, as you all are aware, we celebrated Labor Day - a day to honor the American workers who are the foundation of our economy, our communities, and our families.

As I was pondering this, I thought it would be appropriate to honor the quiet heroes of Creambrook - the Jersey cows.

These big, beautiful animals work 'round the clock every day of the year through all sorts of weather, taking fibrous plants that we can't digest and converting them into milk that contains those plant nutrients that our bodies need for good health.

The Jerseys faithfully perform this daily process without complaining, and often with great anticipation, for their next field of grass and daily moves through the milking parlor.

Just like small children, the Jerseys can be mischievous and will take every opportunity to exploit gates that are left open, steal your keys from the four wheeler, attempt to snatch your phone, or lovingly rub on you while attempting to make repairs in the field.

In addition to their fun side, we appreciate their hard work and are thankful that we get to work with them every day.

To honor these amazing bovine co-workers, we have included some of our favorite photos over the years of the Jerseys doing what they do.
