Our Favorite Breakfasts

As our family routines shift from full summer days to the rhythm of back to school, I am finding myself writing lists for our go-to breakfasts.

I've shared these favorites over the years and wanted to round them up in one farm letter. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

For busy mornings, I try to prep ahead and have something ready to go. Here are our favorites:

Homemade Yogurt

I will make a gallon of yogurt at a time and top it with chopped fruit, raisins, peanut butter, nuts, honey or maple syrup, or granola if we have it on hand. The boys like to make their own versions with the toppings.

Greek Yogurt

I enjoy this for the extra protein and smoothness! Sometimes I will stir in high quality protein powder, cocoa powder, and top with fruit and granola.

Raw Milk Protein Smoothies with Fruit

This is a great way to use up raw milk or if you make raw kefir! My favorite fruits are the berry & mango frozen fruit bags, and add in some protein powder or a little maple syrup.

Peach or Berry Baked Oatmeal pans

This is a recipe that Ben grew up making in his family. Make this early in the morning or the day before since it takes 35-45 min to bake. It's filling and we pour milk over the top when it's warm and serve in bowls. You could use any fruit you have on hand!

Berry Muffin Recipe

We like these a lot - they don't last long around here!

These aren't recipes, but other breakfasts we enjoy are:

  • hard boiled or scrambled eggs

  • sausage patties or bacon

  • overnight soaked oats, cooked on the stove, topped with peanut butter, maple syrup, and raw milk

  • avocado toast (I'm the only one in the fam who enjoys this haha)

  • Kodiak flapjack mix (it's nice to have as a back up for busy days)

  • apples, bananas, blueberries served with anything

  • Not your traditional breakfast, but sometimes I'll have flatbread or tortillas with leftover pork or beef, tzatziki sauce, and scrambled eggs (here's my flatbread & tzatziki sauce recipe

I hope this list is helpful as you plan your breakfasts this coming week!
